For the first time this year, Crazy Lady’s Produce was closed due to Hurricane Irene!  Claire and Jo battened down the hatches on Friday night after closing!  As a result, the stand survived and we had no issues or damages from the storm!  We were very busy with everyone stopping by on Friday getting prepared for the storm.  Sunday folks stopped by to check on us to see how we fared. Thanks to all for your concern and support!

As most of you know, our motto at Crazy Lady's Produce has always been "try before you buy"--whether it is a peach or a melon or a jar of jelly, we sponser sampling!  We are happy that tis finally getting cool enough again for us to put out a  variety of our samples.  We think you will find we have some very tasty ciders, jellies, pickled items and salsas!  Stop by and try some today!

We also have a variety of nuts for your holiday baking needs; pecans, almonds, walnuts, and pistachios.  Yes!  I said HOLIDAY!   I couldn't believe the kids went back to school already so the holidays are right around the corner.  We wil be getting pumpkins, mums, and other fall plants in early September so be on the lookout here and on Facebook for my announcements on when we get those coming in!

As I said, this summer just "whizzed" by me so quickly.  I didn't realize I hadn't upaded anyone on here or facebook since June!   did keep my promise to not send too many emails or to inundate everyone with information about the stand this summer.   i will try to keep you more up-to-date than every quarter.

Have a great week!

Welcome to June! 06/06/2011

Can you believe it is June already?  The kids are almost done with school and the heat of the summer has officially arrived.   Thank heaven for the fans and the cooler in the stand!  Crazy Lady's is getting in more and more local produce every day which is what everyone has been asking about!  We have local eggs, brocolli, squash, onions, cucumbers, blueberries, and strawberries.  All of the Bone Sucking Sauces, the jams, jellies, and salsas as well as the ciders are also coming from local producers and Mike's Honey is produced right here in Raleigh.  Crazy Lady's is also gong to start carrying Grendeddy Dave's BBQ Sauces which are produced in Wake Forest.  As always, Crazy Lady's, like her amazying customers, supports local growers as well as local merchants.

We hope your family gives you a wonderful day today!  You deserve it for all of those special things you do throughout the year.  Moms just seem to make everything more special with that extra loving touch.  Just think of all of the things that wouldn't get done, the practices that wouldn't get attended, the homework that wouldn't get done, the projects that wouldn't be exactly what you wanted, the wounds that wouldn't get cared for, the lunches that wouldn't get made, the field trips that wouldn't be possible, the vacations that were oh so fun, and the love that you know you have no matter what.  Be good to Mom today.  She is special in her own way.

Happy Wednesday! 05/11/2011

Hope all of you are enjoyng this beautiful Wednesday!  Please come out and join us this weekend for some samples of some great ciders, jellies and some bone sucking sauces!   We will be offering samples in the "flower tent" so you can browse the plants while you munch on some goodies.  Hope to see you this weekend!

With the Crazy Lady's Produce stand back in the parking lot at Taylor's Wine Shop, spring is back to 'normal' for me and lots of other folks who missed Crazy Lady's Produce over the winter.  If you have stopped by the stand recently you know that we not only have STRAWBERRIES and strawberry cider but Jo has all kinds of produce too--Thank you Bob!   Are you ready--in the fruit department; she has bananas, pineapples, and tomatoes all from Florida right now.  The tomatoes from North Carolina will be ready in a couple of weeks.  I will be letting you know when they will be available here on this blog and on Facebook!  In the vegetable department, she has baking potatoes and sweet potatoes, spring onions and Vidalia onions, yellow and zucchini squash, alongside green peppers.  Jo also has head lettuce, kale, and spinach in addition to eggplant, asparagus, and cucumbers.  So, last year, during this time when strawberries were the only fare available, customers have ALOT to choose from.   If you haven't yet, stop by and say hello--we are running a few other special programs too that you need to check out too!

Jo & Bob brought the stand up really early Wednesday morning to get everything set up and ready for the season.  After a very long day and lots of organizing, the strawberries will arrive a couple of days early!  Stop by on Thurday or Friday, say hello to Jo and grab a box or two or maybe just a quart or two of berries for the family. We have some suprises in store for Saturday for the "official" opening as well so we hope to see you then too!

We're Back!. 04/01/2011

It is April 1st!--April Fool's Day and and I will be publishing our Crazy Lady's Produce site to the web this evening.  This is a day when my kids take advantage and pull some real crazy jokes on mom!  Well, this site isn't a joke!  I am so excited about finally getting it up and running, I'm excited about the new season, and i am looking forward to seeing all of the old faces from last year and seeing some new ones this year.

Crazy Lady's Produce opens up for the season with Strawberries in just two short weeks, on April 16, 2011.  Like I said, we are going into this season with a positive outlook though we will be missing some old faces from last season.  We will be missing our friend Gail Cash from the store this year but we will look for ways to honor her memory throughout the season.  Please stop by, share a story, or  just catch up, and enjoy some sweet, juicy strawberries!
See you in two!
The Crazy Ladys
